Sometimes when you think you are prepared for something that will be happened, you are not…my grandma was injured few weeks ago and when i visited her, she couldn’t move but just lied on the bed….since then i start to have the restless feeling…

Since i was a little kid, i lived with my grandparent in Sai Ying Pun, Sheung Wan. I am very close with my grandparent especially grandma…I remember that she woke up at 5am every day to take care of the whole family, and she was the most generous, selfless and tough person i ever know, i love her and respect her so much…

I always know i had the “fear” of losing my grandma, so i prayed to the above (i don’t know whom i prayed to, i just looked at the sky and prayed) when i was a kid. Whenever i knew grandma was sick, i prayed that i would rather to shorten my life in exchange of the good health for her. I believed that the above did listen to my praying several times, becos my grandma underwent several critical heart operation/situation, one time we rushed to the hospital and we thought she was going to leave few years ago but then she recovered.

Now my fear came true, i don’t know how to describe the feeling and my deep down sadness of losing someone that mean so much to me….I cried a lot on the day she left then these days my mind is calm, and occupied by my reminiscence of her. I lost motivation to do anything, especially until i knew her death could be avoided becoz the doctor made mistake of something….my family members are angry yet helpless while i feel the pain of my heart stopped all my emotion and i remain quiet…whatever we do or try to do, she is gone…

On 16 January, it was a cold night, I lost sleep coz I feel so restless and cold…until around 4 – 5am on 17 January, I suddenly feel so warm and then fell asleep, i woke up at 8am to prepare to work…
Its around 10am, I got my cousin’s message that my grandma is passed away at 5am on 17 January…

My mother didn’t want to tell me at first becoz she afraid the news would affect me and she also think its not good for us to tell our friends about the news near CNY, so i just told few of my close friends about it (to my great friends, thank you so much for all your caring n support, i love you all). I believe that not many people read my personal blog, i just want to write this for myself and grandma, and I also read back the post i wrote for my grandpa on 9 dec 2007, it seem just happened yesterday…

I believe i will meet my grandparent someday again and I hope grandma could meet grandpa in another World. RIP my beloved grandma, love you always.

We have so little time to say the things we mean.
We have so little time for any of it…
Cherish your loved ones….

The Meowmorphosis by Franz Kafka & Coleridge Cook, published by Quirk Classics.

On the back of the book, “One morning, as Gregor Samsa was waking up from anxious dreams, he discovered that he had been changed into an adorable kitten.”

I still remember I always took a bus to Stars Mall, Tsim Sha Tsui during weekend, coz I only knew there was a store that sell Apple product and I love to try the iMac there and talked to the shop owner who is super nice! After I graduated, I still couldn’t afford one, until I worked for few more years and paid all my loan to government, then I have my first iMac….

It definite the loss to the World. R.I.P Steve Jobs. Thank you Steve, You will always be missed.

I just watched the anime “Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below” by Shinkai Makoto last night.
I am a big fans of Shinkai Makoto, and 秒速5センチメートル is one of my favourite anime so far. If you are not familar with Japanese anime, you may think his work is just one of a kind. To me, his anime is quite different, the scenes of his animes are exquisite and the emotion of characters are delicated. I was so moved by the anime 秒速5センチメートル, and love the dialogue in the film.

I truly admire Shinkai Makoto that he tried to make a breakthrough of his work, and no doubt he shows the high standard of Japanese anime to the World again.
The anime talks about lot of deep topics, one of them is loneliness which make the girl and her teacher to start their journey to look for what they lost…Loneliness drive the teacher to look for the ancient state / legend that help his wife reborn and also drive the girl to look for something that can help her to conquer loneliness since she lost her dad when she were a kid.
What intrigued me is one of the ancient gods who swallow the death spirit, and release their lifetime memory into an amazing music. This plot is really beautiful and touch me.

Besides the beautiful anime I enjoyed, I love the music in the film very much.

Though this film is quite different from his old work, i still recommend you to see coz you will be blew away from the stunning scenes.

My colleagues like to have different kind of diy workshop during lunch hour, and my colleague Joanne taught us how to make use of the foam board to do a foam board printing. I found its really fun and easy, and the printed work always turn out with surprise, so i want to blog about it.

Material:

1 high density foam board (if you use normal foam board, you may not able to draw on it)

a pencil or pen

few black papers

poster color (its really important to use poster color)

Steps:

1. Cut the foam board and black paper into a postcard size.

2. Use a sharp pencil or pen to draw directly on the foam board, dont worry if you can’t draw a smooth line, coz its fun to have unexpected result. You can see I try to draw simple shape with rough line.

3. Pick the color you like and fill the drawing with poster color without dipping water, coz the poster color is better to apply on the high density foam board without watery. I use orange, blue, white color to draw on the shape and panda, then use gold color to draw on the background. (If you want to draw alphabet, please remember to reverse the alphabet)

4. Place a black paper on the foam board and use your hands or object to roll or press a bit until the color apply to the black paper. I use the same foam board to print lot of different color combination, it was fun and love the result.

Tips: I love the brush stroke after print, so try to use those cheap and rough brush when you color the foam board with poster color.

It was so warm on Saturday, the sun is so bright and I keep sweating when I walk from bus stop to HK Museum of Art, its one of the reason i hate Summer so so much -_-||

I love INK very much, and its the main reason that I visit the Ink vs Ink exhibition and I found lot of interesting and inspiring work, one of the installation impressed me is that it displayed a video of a landscape drawing by ink, the ink flow like water, so peaceful and dynamic , i sit there for 15 minutes to see it, some people may think its boring coz the flow of ink is not so obvious, i found its give me a refreshing feeling. Overall, the exhibition is worth to go.

After the last visit and the recent visit, i found the staff inside the art museum are quite annoying, they love to follow the visitors everywhere, as i understand its their job, i hope they would learn from other museums that either ask visitors to keep the bags / camera at counter, not to follow and watching us like we are going to destroy or steal the artwork, not a pleasant feeling at all….

After visiting the exhibitions at Art Museum, i headed to visit another exhibition called 100 years later by a japanese artist Maico Akiba, I’ve seen her work at Rody custom show and she paint and custom the daily object to make them turn out like 100 years later, very interesting work.

Instead of making a business card, I have an idea to make a Social Card coz I think social medium such as facebook, twitter, and flickr are widely used to present the personal profile and portfolio.
I like to make it in small size, so the card is 70mmx48mm. (again 100 cards printed only)

My lastest Design of Social Card, and i love this color scheme recently!

Aidan, the big boss of Playlounge (a cool toy store from London) invited me to design a figure for his shop in February 2010.

Aidan’s idea is to have a figure that represent his shop and carry some distinctive British features. I’m very interested in this project and so honored that I m the first artist to participate in this project, in order to have good quality guaranteed during production, we also find Crazylabel to produce the figure. Special thanks to Andy to make “Periwinkle” so perfect!

I truly enjoy the process of creating the figure “Periwinkle” and very happy to tell you that The Bubblegum Adventures of Periwinkle – Episode one: London raindrops is available now, if you happen in London, please visit Playlounge shop to check them out in person or you can order online!

The complete case carry 16 blindbox cases, here is the detail information from Playlounge site:

“The Bubblegum Adventures of Periwinkle – brought to you by Playlounge in collaboration with Bubi Au Yeung. Each individual package contains a 3″ Periwinkle with action posable arms and dynamic multi-directional head movement, also includes a detachable gum-bubble plus a fold-out comic strip and any one of three possible ‘mystery-packed’ accessories to help Periwinkle in his adventures… Could be a bowler hat, umbrella or a satchel hidden inside!

85mm x 40mm x 40mm”
